Saturday bake off

Today....it was time for some sugar-free chocolate oat cookies. Very yummy  without compromise on taste but so low on sugar that it should get a licence to be eaten three times a day!

Autumn flowers in bloom

It is my turn to do the flowers for Trinity. As I have an indiginious garden, there is absolutely nothing in it that would be suitable for church.

Today I verntured into the florist - what a story! For silly little flowers, it was nearly R200! Anyway, I  made two bouquets - one for me and one for church!

Which one do you like? (I am no good at flower arranging. I am better to free fall flowers into a pot, since you can not to wrong :D)
My bouquet for the house...?

For church...?

My stuff ....

I bought this jean but it was too big and truly unflattering. The bonus was that I could get the entire bag out of the jean. I used the one side back pocket for the detail on the front. I stitched the entire bag in navy and also used a light blue zipper.

Upcycle tie messenger bags

The bags are made from secondhand/previously used/vintage ties that wa owned by someone! This person used them extensively. This person enjoyed using the ties as the men in a generation or two were proud of wearing a tie to any occasion. It is only in the last 20-30 years that wearing a tie became optional. Previously, men used to put on a tie to go to movies, church, for a meal in a restaurant, everywhere! Now, it is mainly used for work and weddings and funerals!

They are truely unique! Absolute one of a kind!

I have to re-think my original tie bags (for a water bottle) as it was not selling at all. Seems that the bag is not distinctive enough which meant that people just don't understand what it is for. It is not that they don't notice...they do and always comment on how nice it is, but the bags were not selling!

So...I unpicked them all...and I thought I was very clever by sewing them up with a fancy stretch stitch! What a pain....

The new bags I stitched in a normal straight stitch and it looks just as nice. And usual....they are truely unique!

I still have more ties but I will wait first for these to sell before I make the others as unpicking is never a problem, but I truely try to avoid it as much as possible.
